“Every day now is a bonus - I get to see my family and ride my bikes. How do you quantify another chance at life? It’s priceless. Yet, it costs over £13,500 daily to run the service.”“Seconds matter in cardiac arrests. Steven’s survival was thanks to everyone working together.” – Dr. David Connor
Steven Jefferies is profoundly grateful to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity for saving his life after a cardiac arrest at home in Orcheston, near Salisbury.
Initially dismissing his symptoms as indigestion, he collapsed within hours. His wife, Geraldine, and neighbour Jane, a trained carer, acted fast - performing CPR and retrieving a defibrillator. Moments later, the air ambulance team - Dr. David Connor, paramedic Dan Tucker, and pilot Simon Gough MBE - arrived, delivering lifesaving care before airlifting him to Southampton General Hospital.
Steven was given an emergency anaesthetic by Dr David before being airlifted to Southampton General Hospital within minutes. Since the incident, Steven has been recovering well but has slowed down his workload.
